Well, if our wonderful governor would repeal the gas tax that California collects at the pump for 30-60-90 days (as he has the power to do so) it would cut our gas prices by HALF. But as he is in the pocket of the oil companies just like all politicians, Republican AND Democrat, he will not do so as it doesn't hurt his millionaire pocket!!

I understand what you are saying and in a civilized society, which we "pretend" to be,that should be a viable option, but in some cities in the U.S. that is not a wise choice, because if you are on the metro bus at the wrong time you may not make it to your destination. Where I live, there have been many cases of someone, who has never had any target practice, trying to shoot a particular person (usually because of drugs) who walking down the street, sitting in a truck, or riding on a bus. The shooter misses their victum and kills the person who is unfortunately either behind or next to their victum. Honestly, I have felt safer riding on city buses in Mexico than I do in the U.S.
