I just got home from a road trip in my friend's car, who has XM radio, and thought it was great! We were driving through the Sierras where normal radio doesn't come in and listened to XM the whole time. And there is so much more variety it seems. I am totally a fan!

Matthewelnyc: First, Since when do men like to listen to the NFL? Watching it in a lazy boy is the time old tradition and will not change because of Sirrius. Second, have you checked Howard Stern's market share demographics lately? The majority of them (blue collar workers on the east coast) will not be able to afford satelite radio. Howard Stern will bomb, at least until the OEM's start including XM or Sirrius as standard equipment on new vehicles.

ANY brand of satellite radio is an improvement over conventional radio, as is internet radio--there IS more variety. With conventional radio, AM or FM, the choices are talk or some oppressive form of music, usually some offshoot of poorly conceived, homogenized, sound-alike rock. Satellite and internet radio offer about the only means there is to hear wide varieties of real music without amassing a large, expensive record and CD collection. And regarding Howard Stern and Chicago's Mancow Muller and other radio "personalities" of similar stripe--the Founding Fathers would be spinning in their graves if they were to hear how these "champions of free speech" have corrupted the real intent and meaning of the First Amendment. Unfortunately, class, self-discipline, and civility are difficult, if not impossible, to legislate.
