The holidays are here and as most say, Tis the season to tip. The question is, how much money should you tip the people who provide services to you year round? I like to give my mail carrier and garbage man tips for their hard work. Its not easy for them putting up with the ranting and ravings of some of my not so nice neighbors. I usually give my mail carrier a $25 gift card and my garbage man the same. But, its hard to know what the average is. The average seasonal tip is around $20 for the mail carrier, the garbage man and a newspaper carrier. What about your nanny or your landscaper? Tis the season to tip larger for these workers. A typical holiday bonus for a nanny is one weeks pay and a gardener gets anywhere from $50-$75. If you have a babysitter that watches your children on occasional weekends you should tip them as well, usually $20-$25 and a cleaning person would get about $70-$75 dollars. If you are feeling generous, by all means tip them more, as, you will probably continue to get top of the line service after a nice tip.
