There should be a law against this. I almost died on the way to a meeting this morning.

and who the hell do they talk to all day long. If it is proven that drivers on cell phones get in more crashes, then why do we allow a driver we hire to talk on the friggin cell phone. Has anyone ever asked a driver to hang up?

May 1999 - Last week the Commission ruled that the 90,000 taxi, limo and car service drivers in New York should not use cell phones while they are at the wheel. There have been too many complaints from passengers against talkative cabbies, a spokesperson for the Commission says. The New York regulation, reportedly the first such ban, is expected to be duplicated in many other American cities. In New York it will become effective on July 1. When will this take effect in San Francisco?

OMG! Now I have some more data for my observations! If cabbies can't drive and talk on cell phones then who can? I am so sick of people who say,"Oh, I can drive well and talk on my cell phone!" Sure you can, because you aren't behind yourself, swerving to miss you and slamming on your brakes to keep from hitting you when you are going 35 down the freeway! If it weren't for the defensive driving of others around you, you wouldn't make it a week without an accident!

In the city of Chicago it's against the law, and passengers are supposed to report it to the cab company. Don't know whether there are any true consequences to this or not?
