Start building and selling some serious rechargeable electric cars that I can get to and from work. Most people commute less than 50 miles, why can't they make a cheap electric car just for that purpose? Let the market place determine where and how the electric cars are feasible not the auto makers (oil companies). Oil companies don't want these cars on the road - I wonder why!

ronc99 (9/24): Actually, there is no such thing as a CHEAP electric car. But if you want electric, the hybrid is the better choice. Maybe in 10 years when batteries can double what they do now, otherwise, you may get stuck 2 miles from work one day, with only a 6 foot extension cord. Big oil has faught these for years, and will continue to, but one day they will have to turn. Then I am sure you know who will be the big electricity centers, BP Electric right? (report)
Anonymous (6/22): Thanks for the link. I'm finding more and more reasons to buy a hybrid. (report)

hazieG (9/29): heh, I'm not sure if I agree or disagree. But basically yeah, the Oil Companies are making it impossible for engineers to design and build and mass produce cars for the future.. yeah, that future when we don't have oil to run our cars. Personally, I'm holding out for solar power! (report)
