Who's becoming rich with the escalating price of gas? Can anyone explain why two gas stations that sit across the street from each other differ by 3-5 cents per gallon ?

God bless capitalism and free trade! Can you believe the yahoos in Hawaii that have passed a law to limit the price of gas?? Mark my words, the island shortages of gas will only hurt the poor -- the very people the legislature sez they're trying to help.
Remember gas is less of your family budget at these prices than it was in the early 1980s!

I have a secret that will save people thousands of dollars on gas. The developers of Keystone Light (Coors) did not want to pay the high prices for gas for all their delivery trucks. So they developed a beer that can be used as fuel and has all the same effects as a beer. Peter Coors is a good friend of mine, and was nice enough to let me in on this money saving secret. All you have to do is pour a six pack of Keystone Light into your gas tank and your car will run like a gem. The greatest part is that you only have to pay $5.99 for gas! What will they think of next?

the price of gas that the dealer pays for his gas is constantly fluctuating and one station may have gas in the ground that came in at one cost while a dealer across the street may have gas that was delivered today at a higher or lower price to him. There may be gouging going on as well but this is the major reason for price differences.

It's called price gauging. If you're so outraged, why don't you just walk or ride the bus?

We are driving up to Tahoe today and I dread to think what it is going to cost in gasoline. I am practically running out of gas just driving all around looking for the cheapest price. Time for a hybrid perhaps? !

A report on NPR yesterday noted that American oil companies have not built a single new refinery in 30 years. There's a benefit to keeping the supply low. It means higher profits for them.

Some consumers buy into the hype of name brands even when it comes to gasoline. If it's gas, your car will run just fine on any brand. It's the law! My question is: "If they can put men & women on the moon, don't you think they can make a gallon of gas go 100 miles in our cars?"
