Each U.S. citizen's share of National Debt jumped by $1,690.34 in one year, from $26,845.37 on October 7, 2005, to $28,535.71. For a family of four this is an increase of $6,761.36. So what do we have to show for it? U.S. NATIONAL DEBT CLOCK (http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/) The Outstanding Public Debt as of 09 Oct 2006 at 04:02:26 AM GMT is: $8,550,981,592,601.90. The estimated population of the United States is 299,658,923 so each citizen's share of this debt is $28,535.71. The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.66 billion per day since September 30, 2005.

LHU (10/9): It's our money and our country. The average citizen can vote the tax & borrow bums out of office. If you split the House Senate and Presidency between the two parties, this will bring back some form of checks and balances. (report)
