“Bad Sex” - Yes, It's That Time Of Year Again    Back to the homepage
Views: 499 Report
So the annual “Bad Sex In Fiction” Awards are once again about to be awarded (why, what did you think I meant?), and the world waits with bated breath to hear who is guilty of the worst sex of 2007. The prize is in its 14th year running, and is awarded to only the finest writers for the insertion of completely pointless, badly handled and generally tasteless sex scenes in serious literature. Shortlisted this year are David Thewlis' novel “The Late Hector Kipling”, Jeanette Winterson's “The Stone Gods”, Richard Milwards's “Apples”, Gary Shteyngart's “Absurdistan”, Christopher Rush's novel “Will” and Clare Clark's book “The Nature Of Monsters”. Norman Mailer may also be set to receive a posthumous award for bad sex in “The Castle In The Forest”. The awards will be announced on Tuesday and the winner can expect to go down in the history of bad sex alongside the likes of A.A.Gill, Sebastian Faulkes and Tom Wolfe. I wish the best of luck to all the contestants.
