Remember when you went to the store, and the person incharge asked May I help you, insted of being on the phone. Remember when you went to a gas station and they came to you insted of you going to them. What happened to Service in America?

Merlin (7/28): America created a middle class, went to college (26% today vs. 5% in 1925) so what we have in our "service industry area" are people being paid poorly by big corporations such as Wal-Mart, trying to learn to run a cash register, who move on once they get their green card or a new job from their current entry level position, and, because there are no more "Mom & Pop" businesses, nobody cares what the customer thinks. The employee gets paid the same regardless of how quickly they ring you up, make change, assist you with a product selection or location, or assist with packages. It's not their job, they're not going to do it (no profit in it for them), they get paid the same, if they get fired they collect unemployment. Let's not even get into the "Me first" mentality breed into people born since 1950 that have conveyed this to their children. Not all! But a significant percentage of them. Especially those who feel they are entitled. Or have received something for nothing. (report)

Bones (7/26): and what I also hate is when you're in line to buy something at a bookstore, etc, and then the cashier takes a call and sends 5 minutes on the phone with someone that basically just cut in front of you. So frustrating. (report)
grfalcon (7/26): I just came from the store were I waited in line after a women was rung up and the cahier suggested she fininsh shopping for the things she forgot while I stand there and wait !!! (report)
Writer_B (7/27): This comes from the top. If management thought they could make more money for their stockholders and ensure their own gigantic bonuses, you can be sure that customer service would become a priority. As it is, they cut costs by hiring people at minimum wage and giving them no training. Under those circumstances, it's no surprise that customers suffer. (report)
Anonymous (7/27): My husband and I (we are in our 30's) were in Burlington Coat Factory the other day and no lie, the young man (early 20's)rung my husband's purchases up and while my husband did the credit card machine...he literally turned his back to us and stared off into space until the cash register chugged out the receipt and he turned around sourpussed and handed him the receipt, no smile, no thank you, no come again...didn't even look at us. Regardless of low wages or not...folks seem to have no pride in themselves. (report)
Burkett57 (9/8): A good Point Merlin, But what happened to If you are not a good employee, you get your a$$ fired. I tell you what happened our Goverment thinks they know best. Well they don't know what is best as they got the best job in the world doing absolutly nothing, drawing the best wage you can draw...THAT IS WHAT IS WRONG WITH AMERICA (report)
Anonymous (9/11): I know what you mean. You can't even get the teachers today to teach their students how to spell properly....Just look at your post... (report)
