Another tragedy struck the sports world when Sean Taylor, all-pro safety for the Washington Redskins was shot and killed in his home. Despite the tragic circumstances, some people – even in the media – find this to be an appropriate time to question his ethics and behavior that may have placed him in the predicament to be killed.
Okay, Sean Taylor may not have lived a totally exemplary life, especially in his youth. And perhaps he put that sordid past behind him and was living a more responsible life since the birth of his daughter. But maybe he hadn’t. So what? Now is not the time to question the lifestyle of Sean Taylor. No matter how you slice it – thug or saint – Sean Taylor’s murder was a tragedy. He did not deserve to be gunned down in his own home. Until the police thoroughly sort out the matter, let’s honor and respect the man and his life. Sean Taylor’s family deserves at least as much.
