Lets not just say we will save smarter in 2008, lets actually do it. Start now and set your goals. This will pay off for you in the new year. Here are some great examples for you to get started. If your credit card has a minimum payment, pay a little more. Five or even ten dollars more can add up when trying to reduce your total debt. Saving for retirement is always a smart move. Even if you think you dont have the money, take a little out of each paycheck and put it away. After a few months you will have enough to open a retirement account. Keep going from their and build that account. Its one of the smartest things you can do for your future. Another prosperous idea is in real estate. Its a buyers market right now, so if you have the funds to purchase an investment property you should do it now. You can always rent the property out, but make sure you hang onto it for at least two years, so you wont be hit with large taxes. These are just a few ideas to help you get started saving smarter for the new year.

jasonlee (11/3): Good points, and I would like to add that one way to seriously reduce your expenses, if you are a college student or planning on going to school, is to start getting your education for free! We, my wife and I, are saving so much money on college that we can't believe it. You can learn all about how to get a free degree from a major university by visiting www.degree4free.info (report)
