Does anyone else just love the Sam and Max comics and PC games? I have always loved comics, starting with the old comic strips in the newspaper. I was always delighted in the way stick drawings and short dialogs, or just drawings and no dialog, and occasionally dialog but no pictures just seemed to capture the basics of some situation, the way poetry is said to do, to capture in a nutshell the whole universe. The Sam and Max comics, whether in comic books or now as games, delight me because of the characters. Here we have two "animals," a murdering rabbit and a dog with floppy ears, who make fun of the mean, tough detective types. I guess I like the Sam and Max comics not just because of the pure entertainment they provide--I mean, their dialogs are hilarious, but also because they are like anti-heroes, not like Superman or Batman who can do no evil and make no mistakes, but are more like us, miscommunicating, not paying attention, lying, getting everything wrong, messing up left and right--like all of us.
