It would appear that the federal government is on the verge of doing something about toy safety that has apparently eluded the skills of the nation's toy manufacturers, namely warning consumers about toys that may not be completely toy safe, and contemplating action. Instead of just issuing scary toy safety warning lists and shouting "boogadaboogada", like some independent consumer groups seem to be fond of, Congress is contemplating boosting the enforcement budget of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, while the executive branch is planning on offering import incentives to toy companies that use independent toy safety testing companies.
We'll see whether talk leads to action, but it's nice to see the toy safety issue at least getting addressed.
