SNIPERS??    Back to the homepage

WTH is going on?? Why, WHY would anyone shoot at hospital patients being evacuated? What kind of possible purpose could there be in that? I'm aghast at our southern brethren who are acting like animals. Get the people down there some HELP and some martial law to take down the animals.

Burkett57 (9/2): If you are starving to death, dyeing of thrist, you don't know when or if help is commihg, What do you do? what do you do? you survive by whatever means it takes. I live in Caif. But I can only imagine what these people are going through. Mainly pure panic, so you set at your computer in your cushy homes and judge these people, when all they are trying to do is survive. ronc99 (9/2): This shows the world, because they are watching, how evil the US really is. lets face it, we are not angels in this country. We just think we are. There is a huge number of people in this counry that are animals, pure and simple animals. What you see is what it will be like without some form of religion or moral belief instilled in our children. All these people that preach there is no God, and that religion should not be taught in school, or in public places are getting a taste of what it is like without that. Beleif in God instills a MORAL attitude in people, so that they can behave like civilized people in situations like this. Instead you see anarchy, lawlessness, murder, rape, stealing, and total caos. Do not blame this on anyone but those who will have belief in a higher power taken away and replaced with nothing. I do not go to church, and am not a bible thumper, but believe in Jesus Christ and his acts. This you see is the natural state of humans without any moral attributes period. Worse then animals. beachbabe (9/2): AMEN Ronc....Couldn't agree more. I was in a state of wanting to do something to help and was willing to take a sizable chunk out of my money market account to help the aid relief. After seeing the behavior of the last two days, I refuse to assist the devil in doing his deeds. There are individuals who are not involved, I know, but I just wonder why the many let the few do what they are doing. They are shooting themselves in the foot by just letting it happen. If this is what we can expect when a disaster hits, God help us all. (report)
everyman (9/2): ronc, your argument doesn't hold water...Unless the bible belt runs through the north and not the south? Because as mentioned above, New York handled this much differently and mroe effectively than New orleans, and I have never heard of a NORTHERN baptist denomination... If Religion were the major cause of people behaving properly, then we should be seeing somethign differetn than we are. What it is in this case, is that when EVERYTHING is blown away, as opposed to a few buildings, people turn on "survival mode". Soemtiomes this cause them to work together better, sometimes they get violent. There was a group of some people leading corwds to recite the 23 Psalm, but it didn;t seem to help, even though everyone knew the words (meaning I suppose they were religious types). Taking advantage of a huge disaster to further your views on what everyone else's views should be is unconsionable, and I think you should try to apply logic to your statements before you make them. I would also add, that Islam has a very rigid code of morality, that I do not happen to like and would not want my family involved with -- yet millions of other people do. That's fine by me. A code of Morality can exist outside of a religion, most doctors of all faiths have a well developed code of morality, and some of them are even atheists. You don;t need religion necessarily, you need common decency. And unfortunately, when people are subjected to the worst the world has to offer, some go down a bad path. And lastly, please don;t choose not to give because there are bad things happening there -- there are also good things. Allowing bad people to make you change your actions lets the bad people win ("I will not send money because of bad people" means that the bad people have made you decision). Choose what *you* think is the right thing to do, and keep in mind that for every bad story you hear, there are hundreds of people dying as we write of disease and thirst. (report)
Anonymous (9/2): What kind of people did you think lived in New Orleans?......This is a slum and scum city, and always has been....... (report)
garagesaler (9/2): Isn't the bible belt in the south? A friend of mine said that a lot of what is happening is because it is such a poor city. So, let me get this straight, religious and poor = looting and killing? I know, I know...that is simplifying it way too much but how can this craziness be explained? (report)
cstraw (9/2): I think it comes back to survival of the fittest as well. People are in a state of panic. They think because no one is watching, the laws no longer apply (i.e. the looting). New Orleans and the surrounding areas are very poor. When I was there for work, we were told what streets to avoid at certain hours. With all the chaos, people are not making the right choices and feel that they can probably get away with shooting patients because they feel they can't get caught. I am not as angry at the chaos as I am at the government. Children are dying from dehydration because there is no water and food. How can a country, one of the richest in the world, not rush to aid these folks in an orderly fashion? Why did it take so long to get food and water there? We have so many troops fighting a war overseas that we can't even take care of our own people. This is what we should be frustrated and ashamed about. (report)
Anonymous (9/8): what a mixed bag of thoughts, good people, bad people, wherther we sevre the GOD OF ALL THINGS OR SERVE A STONE DONKEY we all have the right to choose how we act and how we live. the churches do good by senting help, and then comdeming the place for its sinful nature in the next breath. i say hate the sin not the sinner.wonder who taught that? help when you can and if not move and let others help (report)
Anonymous (9/25): It would be a better world if everyone treat others like they treat themselves. (report)
