BMW Run Flats. DANGEROUS!!!!    Back to the homepage
Views: 587 Report
Is anyone aware of lawsuit, class action or otherwise against BMW or Bridgestone re: these piece of cra*p rft's??? they ae seriously dangerous. treads went bad at 15-20K miles. At 30K they are gone, I mean completely bald. I used to like BMW b/c of their service policies, but this is BAD, very bad-like a scam. It is clearly fraudulant and they have known about it for a few years. they switched to Continental, but they were still putting the Bridgestone garbage on after having knowledge of the problem. So, does anyone out there REALLY want to do something about it? Or do you know of any lawsuit dispositions regarding the issue? let me know. I really want to resolve this peacefully-legally without firebombing the dealership. -MichiganBeamerBarb

JohnFromMA (11/24): I agree and can tell you that BMW will be handling huge lawsuits as accidents happen from hydroplaning. Having leased my first BMW 328xi, I was never told that the tires were only good for less that 25K miles. Having brought the car in for service, I was still never told that these tires wear out at 25K miles and mainly wear on the inside where a driver could never see them worn. My son used the car and told me that he thought it was hydroplaning on the wet road. The tires looked ok, except I didn't know to look at the inside of the tread... they were bald. Apparently the tires/car are designed to wear more on the inside and are designed with deeper tread on the inside. Well they sure wore out on the inside and I never knew it. I was lucky and my son was lucky. Someone is going to be killed from these tires. You would think that the service warning systems would be letting you know that they should be checked, Shame on BMW. This is horrible. Oh and by the way, the crappy tires cost $1000 to replace. Don't buy the idea that these are performance tires, the car(328xi)doesn't even handle well with these tires and feels like you hit a house when you meet a small pot hole. Shame again on you BMW. Anonymous (9/13): My BMW is running nicely on its run flat tires. Your comments of "cr*p" and "seriously dangerous" are just your opinion. Do you really believe several global auto makers would use this technology consistently over several years if your alarmist comments were true? The benefits of run flats (SAFETY, weight saving, space saving, convenience etc) far outweight your concerns. (report)
