2008 Toyota Sienna XLE AWD Limited- Run Flat Bridgestone
I replaced my wife’s 2005 Sienna, after it was totaled in Feb ’08 crash, with an identical 2008 model. The air bags and other safety features saved my wife after an out of control Dodge Dakota broadsided her coming off the interstate. Thought it was a good reason to stick with a Sienna.
My only compliant with the 2005 was the ridiculous wear on the very expensive run flat tires.
When I purchased the 2008 Sienna I was told it still only came with Run Flat tires. But supposedly the tires were improved.
Well after 19 months, 23,000 miles, and already having replaced one of the 225/60R17 Run Flat tires we’ve been told that we need to consider replacing all four. The dealer says they only have 2 to 4/32nd left before getting to a minimum 2/32nd . The tires have been rotated, balanced and their pressure closely monitored. The Sienna mileage is 75% city so the wear definitely isn’t due to high speed driving
It seems unbelievable that Toyota lets this tires situation continue. To take a great car and destroy its customer satisfaction coefficient because a tire issue hasn’t been addressed (over the past 4 years. maybe more) is very disturbing.
How many other unhappy campers are out there with a $40K Sienna?
Have owners just put regular tires on their AWD Sienna?
What about a spare?
Can’t recommend this car if Toyota can't resolve their problem. Guess it’s time to look elsewhere.
