FDA regulations against salt
So they went after cigarettes, alcohol, and now SALT? According to the 12/3 issue of BusinessWeek, the FDA is now poised to go after salt. Hearings were scheduled for today to discuss whether FDA salt regulations were needed. According to the article, FDA regulations against salt might take the form of a warning label like you might find on cigarettes. This set of hearings is yet another fantastic example of excellently allocated government funds. Would FDA regulations against salt actually solve anything? Food producers can cut back on the salt they put in the food, but consumers are the ones buying the products--you can take the salt out of the package, but people still have access to salt shakers. Perhaps the next move is an FDA ban against all salt-administering devices.
