anonymous, maybe not every scenario for every US city, but they could at least start with the top three. From the New York Times "Before 9/11 the Federal Emergency Management Agency listed the three most likely catastrophic disasters facing America: a terrorist attack on New York, a major earthquake in San Francisco and a hurricane strike on New Orleans" Hate to think about an event that wasn't considered "likely"

Perhaps when he runs for president you can use all those water-logged buses he left sitting in the parking lot to take the voters to the voting booth..once us Republicans rebuild it for you. Nagin is a loser..always has been always will be.

I am sorry, I see this man getting diry, asking for help from our fed goverment, the same goverment that takes the majority of out tax dollar. the same goverment that took it's time to respond to the greatest natural disater in our history. You poeple want to blame the mayor, I blame GW Bush. he has spent our tax dollar bombing Iraq, and the turn around and rebuild the same country!!! the Man is an IDIOT!!!!!!!! Ray Magin is a true hero, he got out there and did what he had to do with the resorces he had.while GW Bush stayed in the compfy of his 10 mill $ mansion and said awwww that's too bad... I am too busy helping the Iraqs.. Then CNN got involved so he said Ohhhhhh I got to save face,, so what did GW do, he took Airforce 1 to New orlens and hugged a poor black child.. THE MAN IS A FACKE

wow, so all it takes to get your vote is to speak out against the federal government. He failed in his responsibilities and blamed it on the feds. There's a new approach. He must have memorized the liberal hand book on political thinking

Absolutely. How in god's name could any reasonable person expect Nagin to accept any responsibility for the abominable lack of preparation and response at the local level in a city in which everyone has known for about 300 years that the place is below sea level in a tropical storm belt? It is absurd that anyone might suggest that the mayor fell down on the job. Obviously, partying is an important aspect of New Orleans culture, and clearly the mayor must have been doing precious little else. God knows he wasn't spending any effort planning on how to address what EVERYONE knew was a LIKELIHOOD - namely, that the city would one day be deluged with water in a tropical storm. So - having failed to plan for what was known to be a certainty, Nagin instead BLAMES THE PREZ!!! Yahoo!!! Absolutely. Denial ain't only a river in Egypt, that's for dang sure! :-)

Are you kidding???? Did you see the chaos in New Orleans. It looks like a third world country down there. This is embarrasing to America. The lack of leadership in wake of this disaster was disgusting. If anything, I somewhat blame him for these events. He should have done more to get the government to respond. The biggest problem with the whole disaster was the lack of leadership and coordination. I would expect my mayor to be more effective. This will be a negitive exposure for him, opposite of Juliani's exposure after 9/11.

So, the Federal Government must make emergency plans for every possible scenario for every city in the US? Not like the citizens/city government of NO had days of warning to stockpile supplies .. but I am sure they tried but had to wait for permission from Bush???
IMO... Nagin is shuffeling the blame, and enjoying the medias help..

Nagin was in charge being the mayor and he failed miserably. What were his plans for evacuating the poor blacks? The answer...NONE. He didn't offer any help for those who couldn't help themselves. Too bad he didn't have the strength or show the power that KATRINA had. Hopefully the poor black people there will wake up from this nightmare experience and come to realize that their black leader let them down . He should be tried for mass murder.!!!!!!! He is not taking any responsibility, only misplacing blame.

Just what this country needs, another socialist hack that can't handle a city but knows what the country needs. If the left has its way Nagin will be in charge of Fema and Marion Berry will be in charge of the war on drugs.Typical piss in my ear and tell me it's raining liberal BS.

You are a real BOZO if you think the Mayor did his job !! What about the 200 or so school busses left sitting in the parking lot while all of the poor of the city were left with nothing. Why didn't he use those busses to help get those people out of harms way ?? He sucks !!

You're an absolute moron for even considering him as presidnt. The man failed miserably, he had 1200 buses he could have moved to higher ground, and didn't. He knew the Superdome was below sea level and would not be safe, and yet he sent people there.
Let's not forget that the man speaks like the idiot he is, has no professionalism about his manner at all, and speaks like gutter trash most of the time. He hasnot been out there, he is for the cameras but has had nice dry lodgings throughout this crisis, along with adequate food supplies. The fact that the governor of Louisianna failed to turn control of the national guard over to the federal government and thereby delayed response, and made it very hard for FEMA to coordinate efforts also eludes his small intellect.
This is the problem with Anerican voters nowadays, you have fools like the orignator of this topic that will vote for anyone in the spotlight and simultaneously ignore all their shortcomings.

Welcome to the day of left wing liberal media. Everytime the Democrats say something, the media makes it seem like the word of God, but when Republicans say something, it's blasted out of the water even though they are right.

If he runs for President whose he gonna blame? He sat in the Hyatt eating steak while those in the Ballroom got a muffin and bottle of water to last all day. Did you see ALL those busses sitting in the water that he could have used to get people evacuated. Yup, he'd make a GREAT President!

This is exactly why we have people in office that we do. People like you who know NOTHING about politics or character. If that Mayor is so great, why did HE let all the poor fend for themselves? HE is SUPPOSED to be the first defence, HE dropped the ball so badly he was trying to blame everyone else but himself. Lots of people are to blame, but it starts with the MAYOR and the Governor.

Wow, where do I start? This incompetent Mayor left his poor to fend for themselves. Now he wants to get them right back into a chemical and biological disaster. The Feds that be bad mouthed (some was warrented) are now putting his town back together. It is firefighters from around the country that are manning his fire stations. Military and relief workers are securing and rebuilding New Orleans. And this idiot is ignoring the same national leaders that have some kind of plan. He is only worried about getting cash flow back into town. This twit wants to rebuild right back in the worst hit, below sea level areas. Slooowwww learner! History will repeat it self. He just needs these poor, uneducated voters to re-elect him. Use his own cash to build in those areas, not ours. New Orleans (N.O.)is vital to the country because of it's shipping location for goods and oil. Some of it needs rebuilt on high ground. The movie "The Money Pit" comes to mind when I think of N.O. We will spend 100's of Billions of dollars to rebuild this sink hole in hurricane alley. Move out & relocate as many as you can. Educate them so they won't be poor & un enpowered. But get the Mayor with the program or get him out of the way.

Right on! This guy knows how to deflect responsibility and blame someone else - absolutely critical qualities in a loser. I suggest he run for President and Nancy Pelosi can be his VP. The two of them then can stand around and weep when deemed necessary, and otherwise look smug, yet angry, strident, yet charitable, while doing nothing substantive to help anyone, including their constituents.

Are you kidding! How was Mayor Nagin there with the people when he left 50+ busses to be flooded and many who could have been evacuated were left to die. He's a typical politician who is for himself first and his "people" second. One might even argue that he has an inflated sence of self worth and importance!

I live in New Orleans and am dealing with the fallout from the utter lack of leadership we have in this city. Believe me, you do not want Ray Nagin as your president. He ran for re-electon, won, then desserted us. He's a mouth with no action. His lack of leadership is ruining the city I love. The slogan around New Orleans is "Where's the Mayor?" He sure the hell ain't ever here leading us to anything positive. He is doing a lot of traveling, however, raising campaign funds for whatever office he is eyeing while we are being eaten alive by violent crime, a broken local criminal justice system and no clear re-building plan two years after the storm. He might make a good talk show host, but a leader he is not.
