Rapper proves to be an idiot!    Back to the homepage
Views: 1117 Report
Last night I was watching NBC's "Concert for Hurricane Relief." I was absolutely shocked when Rapper Kanye West said, "George Bush doesn't care about Black people." Isn't that a helpful statement? Great way to calm the thousands of traumatized, displaced New Orleans residents with untrue and inflammatory rhetoric!

Anonymous (9/5): if it weren't true it would have been casually dismissed. (report)
Anonymous (9/6): Posters need to educate themselves a little. While I'm not a big fan of West's music, he is an educated man from an upper-middle-class background whose songs for the most part avoid the "gangsta" cliches. (report)
hazieG (9/29): I don't like rap music, but he hit the nail on the head with that statement. But it's not just Bush, it's the whole government, not one person in DC cares about the poor or minorities of this nation. They're looking out for one type of person... the WASP. And that's how it's always been. (report)

Ballerina (9/4): I agree with you!!! And the really bad thing to think about is if a white person said this about a black person, they would be put in jail!!! Does this tell you something about the intelligence of "rappers"! (report)
Bopper (9/5): I hate when these idiot rappers with no education that only sing about drugs, sex, and money try to make profound political statements. Who cares what they think. Maybe if they completed their education, then I might hear what they have to say. But I am so sick of stupid famous people exploiting their fame to pretend to be wise and make stupid statements. Stick to entertainment. (report)
zacht_ (9/6): Kanye West is an idiot ! How can he turn a major devastation and loss of many lives into a racial statement ? It's "uneducated" people like himself that keep turmoil around, when in fact this should make us as a nation pull closer together... I would say stick to your music, but in reality it's not even "music" -- It's a terrible message to our children that drugs and sex and shootings are the "in thing"... Do us all a favor and leave this country -- We don't need people like you !!! (report)
Anonymous (9/7): I agree he is an idiot. And you have to know that there are alot of idiots out there that are going to believe what this jerk has to say. I just want to make it perfectly clear I am not a Bush supporter. I have just as much disdain for the man than his greatest rivals. But the fact about the Katrina situation is that alot of white folks are doing all they can to help. This should not be about COLOR it should be about helping all the people down there. Kanye's comments do nothing to help anybody. It only creates more racial contempt between blacks and whites. So Kanye Help the situation by keeping your mouth shut. (report)
kayfabe58 (9/23): Kanye? What kind of "Ebonic" cultural name is that? Get a real name before you open your mouth (report)
Anonymous (9/24): Playing the "blame game" is such a handy way to absolve one of personal responsibility. It is totally disgusting to always turn things into a racial issue. Maybe those folks should have gone shopping with their food stamps and bought some supplies ahead of time. It is true that the leaders of New Orleans are so totally incompetant that they could not figure out how to haul in some provisions ahead of the storm plus the STUPID decision to not let the Red Cross help the people. They are the racists if one wants to use the term, as they are the ones who cared so little for the welfare of their citizens. I prefer to hear how grateful those folks are that finally Mayor Nagin and Gov. Blanco (both should be fired) finally invited the federal government into the state. THE FEDERAL GOV. CANNOT ASSIST UNTIL ASKED! Where is the gratitude??? Where are the "thank you's"?? (report)
dazza (9/25): With Kanye recently coming on to the international scene I believe he used this oppertunity for it's shock value alone. With such a captive audience he knew the statement would cause controversy. I believe it was nothing more than a mere P.R. stunt and as we all have heard there's no such thing as bad publicity. Arn't we all still talking about it? (report)
