BMW RUN FLAT TYRE PROBLEMS    Back to the homepage
Views: 1899 Report
DEC 2006 335i COUPE ON BRIDGESTONE RUN FLATS 11000 MILES ONLTY TO DATE ALL TYRES TOTALLY WORN AWAY ON INSIDE EDGE AND DANGEROUS. TRACKING SPOT ON, BMW ACCUSED ME OF RUNNING LOW PRESSURES. IF I HAD NOT TAKEN IN FOR OIL SERVICE I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN HOW BAD THE TYRES WERE AND DRIVEN TO ITALY. IT TOOK TWO WEEKS FOR BMW TO LOCATE FOUR TYRES. OVER THE YEARS HAVE PROBABLY SPENT IN EXCESS OF £350,000.00 ON BMW'S. NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE INCLUDING TWO M3'S AND AN M5.

williams (9/9): I have 325i M sport,20,ooo miles 2007 with bloody bridgestone run flats 255x18, 40 and 35 profiles, gone oval, make a rubbing sound on smooth surface, worse at low speed, but the BMW dealer did not send out with correct pressures and its too late now! (report)
hbuen (2/22): i had the same trouble with my 2006 325i, 11000 miles loud tire noise, i went to dealership for complain they said my problem is not covered by the warranty, they recommend wheel alignment, for freaking $500.00, what happened was inner tire get uneven wear almost bald, i have to buy 4 tires, but the funny thing is they wont assure me that the problem would go away if i follow their recommendation and no warranty for RFT tires, WOW!!!!!! (report)
Anonymous (2/25): i totally agre this is obviously a major problem that bmw know about but do not want to face up to i wiil be taking this matter further will update of progress (report)
flintybob (4/15): I'm in the same boat. I've just found out that both my rear 19" RFs are totally worn on the first 1" on the inside edge but nothing else on the tyre. The wear indicators still say I've another 5 or so mm on the rest of the tyre. Replacement around £600 GBP. Not impressed at all. Went to BMW this morning and was told that I need an allignment check for £275. Are they having a laugh. As it seems like a common issue, I think it's time BMW took hold of this and admitted that there's an issue with RFs. Toeing in wheels is normal on high performance cars but even then it should be an even wear not just the inside inch. (report)
Anonymous (6/16): I agree totally inside edge destroyed through to wire the rest fine if i hadnt taken the car for first service I would never have known its very dangerious to say the least my tyre dealer tells me 90% of bmws with RF tyres are the same yet my bmw dealer country garage in ballymeana say I am the first they have seen and its down to me not inflating tyres enough what a joke I will never buy another bmw again. (report)
adgibs (6/30): Exactly the same problem 330i convertible. 255-19-30s. Only done 8000 miles in total. Worn 1" on inside rim. Rest of tyre is fine 7mm left. Tyre pressure also fine. (report)
