Hands up if you really believed Nintendo when they said the “Revolution” would be an amazing new development in console gaming. Call it a shot in the dark... but I'm willing to bet most of you didn't. After all, how many times have we heard that from games companies? It's a big surprise then, to find out that the Wii, despite its embarassment of a name, is everything Nintendo promised and more. I've never been a fan of the recycled titles for Nintendo's other consoles, and sure enough Mario, Wario et al are still appearing in their many guises for Wii, and like many others, I was sceptical that the wireless controller would be a poorly used gimmick. I found myself looking at so many games that do amazing things with graphics, physics and more processing power but still all looked so similar they might as well have all been the same game. Despite myself, I started wondering if the Wii was actually any good... Finally, I was dragged in by the power of the Nintendo Wii, and I haven't regretted it for a moment. Sure, some of the games are the same old Nintendo standards, and some of them are just plain bad. The WiiMote technology has been misused in some games too. That said, it certainly doesn't have the power of an Xbox 360 (or the problems...), or of the PS3, and as a result it won't get a lot of the big name series like Resident Evil 5 (although not the best example, as it is being considered for a Wii reworking). So if you're a hardcore gamer who likes the big name titles with stunning graphics and serious gameplay, maybe the Nintendo Wii isn't for you. But if you're the kind of gamer, like me, who wants something that's not just the fun, accessible, experience that Nintendo promised but also a completely innovative new
