How many times have we said or heard someone say, No more turkey for me. Well, this year I said, no more turkey for me because I could no longer tolerate eating something that has led a horrible and tormented life. Its life begins with rape and artificial insemination. After that it is confined in a tiny space in filthy conditions to grow fat. The poor turkeys resort to nervous pecking and fighting theyre so stressed, so the factories cut off the their beaks and toe tips--without any painkillers. As they grow, their legs stop being able to support their heavy bodies, so millions get crippling leg and joint disorders. Then when they are good and fat, they are trucked to the slaughterhouse. Here, turkeys are hung upside down and then carried on a conveyor belt to the blade thats supposed to kill them. Millions of turkeys, however, bleed to death while conscious. And if the blade misses a neck or the conveyor belt is moving too quickly, the birds are boiled alive in the hot water tank. No more turkey for me, thanks, and I hope no more turkey for me, you, or anyone else.
