Bush: Massive Deportation Not Realistic    Back to the homepage
Views: 921 Report
Even though the immigration rally that shut down market street yesterday as a real pain in the ass, I agree with Bush that the solution is not deportation. See AP article, "President Bush, rebutting lawmakers advocating a law-and-order approach to immigration, said Monday that those who are calling for massive deportation of the estimated 11 million foreigners living illegally in the United States are not being realistic."

Anonymous (5/16): Weak response. I notice this as typical when anti-illegal immigration pro-Bush folks are told the alternative to amnesty (by any other name) is deportation. They just say "unrealistic". I'm guessing this poster listens to Michael Medved. Well, that's not an answer. Is it unrealistic to enforce laws against graffiti or petty crime of any sort? Did you ever hear someone argue that we should just absolve taggers because there are too many of them. I'm sure there are more than 11 millions petty criminals, and the numbers do not deter us from enforcing the law. Another factor to this is the following: Many, if not most, illegals will return of their own volition once the laws are actually enforced. So, stick that in your pipe and smoke it. (report)
Anonymous (6/12): I like the solution from an anonymous internet source... Lets dig a moat on the border of Mexico, fill it with Florida gators and use the soil we dig to build up New Orleans. Win-win-win. If you think that the illegal aliens are only breaking Immigration laws, boy are you in for a rude awakening. I am an investigator. They come into the country illegally, use stolen social security numbers(identity theft), drive w/out a license, insurance or registration and more often than not while under the influence. If you are involved in a vehicle accident with one you are going to be S.O.L. In the long run it is more feasable to deport them than to subsidize their existence. It is a lot cheaper to ship them off than to pay for their stays in prison, their use of municipal and county/federal government resources without chipping in their tax dollars. (report)
