It is hard to know where to start to respond to such an idiotic statement. I would be classified a "liberal" and I side with nothing in your post. I love America and hate what the present administration is doing to it, not to mention what they are doing to Iraq.

I'm a liberal and, like Jimbo, am a bit confused about your view of how a liberal thinks. I love my country and served in the Air Force for 10 years. I am a devout Christian and am active in my community. Perhaps less Limbaugh and getting out more would help.

Dear Frau rudepeoplesux: Did you originally post this in German? The West in new to equal rights for women itself. Most of the restrictions on women in the Islamic countries are cultural rather than purely religious. I'm sick and tired of people who know little or nothing about Islam ranting and raving against it. The Christian church has a poor track record when it comes to tolerance what with the Inquisition, Crusades, and various burnings (Catholics burning Protestants, and vice versa, etc.). Have you been to an Islamic country? If so, did you meet a decent person like yourself just trying to get through life, or perhaps some person just trying to raise their family? They're not unlike us.

Wow! What sewage spew. KP86 is right...more people have died in the name of christianity than all other religions combined...the Lord's name has often been invoked just prior to slaughter. Want to talk about equality between the sexes? How about pay disparity in the good ole US of A? How about the fact that women didn't even have the right to vote until the 19th Amendment was ratified in 1920?! Stop watching FOX news and stop listening to O'Reilly, Hannity and Limbaugh...the triumverate from HELL! The last photo I saw of Ann Coulter looked like a man in drag...so maybe there is equality!

Sorry to cut in, even if just for a moment - but I find it embarrasing that you would take Islam and generalize it as "a religion that hates women and thinks stoning them for adultery is fine." Not all Muslims follow the same strict lifestyles, and to one person who does act in such a fashion, there are ten or twenty more who act tolerantly and kindly. I'll assume here that you're a Christian - perhaps a conservative as well - and tell you to observe the history of your own religion... start with early America, as ruled by Puritans, which allowed basically no joyfullness or enjoyment (dancing, an extremely simple joy, was prohibited) to BOTH sexes. Early 20th century America: women are fighting an uphill struggle to have their very basic rights recognized by the rest of the country. America is no stranger to the inequality of women versus men - just one hundred years ago, women still could not vote. Don't get me wrong, America is great and my home, but today! Well, I myself am female, and I find that often I am not treated as equal to men. Guys continue to be chauvinistic in their actions (though, this is not to say that there are some very awesome men out there).
I'll say this: I've met several Muslim families who live in Islamic countries, and they are free-spirited, kind-hearted, and loving in their actions toward each other. I suggest that you reconsider your statement that Islam hates women, and then turn your criticisms on the actions of that country you so dearly love toward the women living in it.

I agree, there is no such thing as FREEDOM in Islam. Bunch of idiots running around chopping peoples heads off screaming, God is Great. I know we will have to confront these people until there are none left, or none of us left. There is no middle road.
