Don't Let The Writers' Strike Kill The Reaper TV Show!    Back to the homepage
Views: 5898 Report
One of the saddest casualties of the current writers' strike in the television and film industries could be the Reaper TV show. Few shows on television match its combination of weirdo slacker humor, touching friendship, and good old-fashioned devilish occult drama. If you have seen the Reaper TV show, try to catch it while you can on the CW network. The basic premise is that the soul of Sam, its twentysomething main character, was sold by his parents to Satan, who sends the slacker out each week on another errand to gather up the souls of twisted people destined for hell. Meanwhile, Sam and best friend Sock, who makes Jack Black's persona seem like a Madison Avenue ad executive, hang together and try to figure out life. The whole package makes the Reaper TV show a blast to watch, providing pleasures large or small at just about any given moment. Unfortunately, thanks to the writers' strike, original episodes will be running out soon. And, without enough of a fan base built up since the start of the season, the Reaper TV show may die out. One question remains: Who'll be left, then, to gather up the souls of the TV executives who let this tragedy happen?

Anonymous (2/12): Yeah, the show is pretty good. I was looking forward to what would happen next. (report)
Anonymous (2/12): You can compare supernatural to reaper, both are great shows and are quite different then each other. Supernatural has more of a story base while reaper is mainly a comedy. (report)
Anonymous (2/12): Cant* (report)
Anonymous (2/13): This is the BEST show. It leaves me actually looking forward to the next episode and I do not usually follow television shows closely (report)
bluesunflower (2/13): This show is so great. It's one of the more original concepts on TV, and the actors and characters are pitch perfect. (report)
DaisyMae (2/13): It will be a sad day in hell when REAPER is off the air. Reaper is a fun, no reality look at the world and I love it. Who knew the Devil could be so devilish? I hope CW sees what an asset it is and fights to keep it. Sould we send red hots like Jericho fans sent peanuts? (report)
Anonymous (2/13): It's a charming, witty, and intelligent show and it should stay. I've never been disappointed by an episode. (report)
Anonymous (2/13): EXCELLENT SHOW!! Love it, and I also love Supernatural but Reaper is much funnier, lighthearted. What can we do to keep it on? (report)
amfleo (2/13): I think that Reaper is an awesome show. To cancel it would be cruel and unjust. Quality t.v. is hard to find this day and time, but Reaper has exceded my expectations. I hope to see more seasons to come. (report)
Chaliedude (2/13): I agree I liked Sock he was also in a show about aliens in Fl. that was also short lived. (report)
Anonymous (2/13): I agree, I have enjoy the humor, relationships and stories. The actors are well matched with their characters and I love each of them. Please don't let this unique show go to the wayside. (report)

willowz (2/13): lets try and start a petition to keep it on, it deserves more than this (report)
Anonymous (2/13): Reaper is a truly original show that should stay on the air. It is very funny in its own way. Also, for the person who argues that it is trying to be Supernatural; I ask are they watching the same show? At no point has Reaper ever even remotely tried to be Supernatural. As a fan of Supernatural you might argue that it is trying to be a modern day X-Files. It is entertainment if you don't want to watch the show then read a book. DOPE!!! (report)
Anonymous (2/13): the show doesnt try to be "supernatural" it's a comedy and its funny (report)
Anonymous (2/13): I hope they do not kill the show. I completely agree with what this person wrote. I am getting tried of really starting to like a show and they take it off of TV. I hope enough people speak up and the show will not be killed. (report)
Anonymous (2/13): Definitely rocks! I like supernatural, but this show is completely different. You can't compare them as competitors for the same audience. (report)
Anonymous (2/13): 2 words - Kevin Smith (report)
Anonymous (2/13): slacker fun with awesome reaper action. I will be :( if it gets booted (report)
Anonymous (2/13): i am in love with this show. i totally love it. (report)
Anonymous (2/13): Totally agree!! (report)
sweetmagic55 (2/13): i love this show, i would hate for them to cut the show. guess we could send nuts to cw like they did for jercho. i hate it when they have a show that is good they take it off (report)
Anonymous (2/13): No Reaper Rocks (report)
Anonymous (2/13): First off....I went to the DMV and was HAPPY about it, because I love this show so much. Next up: Home Depot, of course. I've watched the first runs, the repeats, online, any way I can get it. I've never seen such a funny, original, crisp hour drama before. (report)
Anonymous (2/15): Long Live Reaper (report)
Anonymous (3/1): keep the damn show. (report)

Anonymous (2/12): The show is bland and struggles for originality, even as it resorts to exaggerated expressions for laughs. There is a much better drama that has a similar premise (but was written first, fyi) called Supernatural. On the same network even. (report)
Anonymous (2/13): Reaper wants to be something it's not - Supernatural. Now it even wants to take over Supernatural's time slot. Reaper can, and will, go. (report)
imayberight8 (2/13): never saw it, don't get cw, enuf crap on tv i don't watch anyway. If CW ever grows up into a full-fledged must carry network by my satellite co, AND I don't have to pay extra for it, a more believable premise might have helped. (report)
Anonymous (2/28): The problem I have is making light of Satan and his evil; he loves that.No one can destine another's soul to Hell; the individual has to "earn" the trip.Note to fellow-Christians: if you do your homework, you'll see that no one is consigned to hell forever; the mis-translation of the New Testament reads "forever and ever"- the original NT Greek is "eons and eons" which is actually an unstated time period; this is FACT.I have nothing against well-done supernatural themes in shows, but being flip about the kind of evil that sponsors all the world's horrors serves only to trivialize them. "Supernatural" and other shows don't do this. (report)
