Like his mother was, Kanye West is an entrepreneur, a poet of sorts, and a leader in his community and the entertainment industry. And it is more obvious today than it has been since reconstructive surgery became relatively affordable--the entertainment industry is setting an unfair pace to the world of aging women.
Women have always been revered in wealth, in Hollywood and in entertainment as beacons of hope and beauty to other women all over the world. And in the past, a woman had no choice but to accept the challenges and facts of an aging face and body. Now, however, women relish at the fact that they can simply get a referral and with some cash and a decent doctor, change what nature has given them. This puts the woman's health at risk and indulges them in unhealthy solutions to face changes in their body caused by diet and lifestyle.
Kanye West's mom, Donda, was a community woman. She was head of the English department at Chicago State University where she was also a professor. Recently she looked forward to looking her best at her son's future wedding, the basis for her seeking out surgery in the first place.
Her death, which occurred within days of surgery, has left her son and many adoring fans without her and she will truly be missed.
It does suck, however, that so many middle aged women are feeling the pressure to go under the knife for appearances when nutrition and an active lifestyle is far more affective.
