When I went to Firestone and they made a mistake in a car part, they not only fixed the problem as quickly as possible but also absorbed the cost of their error. Restaurants do likewise if they make an error in your food order.
So why in Sam Hill are doctors allowed to mess up people's lives the way they do? My husband went in for a routine surgery. The day after he came home, he felt ill. We thought it may have been the anesthesia, but his condition went from bad to worse .I had to rush him to the emergency room the following day. It turns out, he caught some nasty intestinal virus, something that had spread from INSIDE THE HOSPITAL. He did not have this disease until he went to the hospital.
Now they sent the insurance company a bill, and us our co-pay. The hospital needs to eat their mistake! They nearly cost my husband his life and now they want others to foot the bill. An attorney we called said this happens a lot.
Pitiful, our lame horrible excuse of a system we have in the United States! No wonder people would rather fall over dead than go to a doctor. They are too blinded by special interests from drug companies, home health supply companies, and others of that ilk to let a patient get well soon. They drag it out as far as they can to milk people dry. I say that because the issue with the virus is the last of a series of issues they have inflicted on us over the past year.
Again the attorney said these things happen a lot and we have no legal rights against it. He thinks that is unjust, but it is the system. He says it even happened to him and he knows its wrong and that's why he does what he can when he can.
We are not sue-happy, but this series of crap went on too long and had nasty consequenses on us. This last issue was the proverbial straw on the camel's back which is why we called the attorney. I'm left now to just complain about how we have to pay dearly for their errors and thinly disguised greed.
About this poster:
Bearing the brunt of other people's issues and paying too much for it. Getting mean now.
