I have worn contacts all my life and the time came to go see the eye doctor again, so I made an appointment but couldn't find a sitter for my 13 month old, so I brought her along with me. Anyway, I get there and the doctor tells me he has to dilate my eyes. I have no clue what this means and I have never had it done in the 10 years I've worn contacts. But he said it was necessary, so he did. They put these drops in my eyes and told me I'd "be a little light sensitive" but otherwise fine. I was concerned about driving home, especially since I had my kid with me, but he assured it would be fine. When all was done with, my eyes were pretty sore and as soon as I walked outside, my eyes were on fire! A "little light sensitive" was a definite understatement. I could barely open them, and I had to drive home. I sat in my car for about ten minutes, trying to find sun glasses, unsuccesfully. I tried to call someone to come get us, but no answer. At last I just had to drive, very slowly and barely able to see. I can't believe the doctor would suggest this for my eyes knowing that I wouldn't be able to see, let alone drive. I mean I had my child with me. When I arrived home, bawling uncontrollably, I called the doctors office and told them off. But I was so angry that this jerk put me and my kid's life potentially in danger! If you live in northeastern CT, stay away from Dr. James Dean at the Eye Care Northeast. He clearly sucks!
