Heisman Trophy 2007    Back to the homepage
Views: 910 Report
The Heisman Trophy 2007 will be close but Tim Tebow will win. Although he has become the first NCAA division one quarterback to rush for 20 touchdowns and pass for 20 touchdowns in the same season, many people feel he is a “system” quarterback who is only good because he plays at the University of Florida. While there is no doubt playing for a major college football program helps football players in the Heisman Trophy race many feel the award should be for the best player in college football, not the best player at a great program. Many feel Oregon would not have had the success they had without the talents of Dennis Dixon. The same could be said of Missouri’s Chase Daniel, although they failed on the big stage when the lights were brightest. Hawaii’s coach June Jones says after last Saturday night’s win over the University of Washington Colt Brennan is the clear choice for the Heisman Trophy 2007 stating no other quarterback has led their team to an undefeated record this season. That logic is hard to dispute although a 100+ rank in the strength of schedule department hurts the Rainbow Warrior’s chances for the Heisman. The bottom line is Tim Tebow is a great college player in a great system. He plays in a time zone when the majority of Heisman Trophy 2007 voters get to watch him play and he plays for a football powerhouse in a powerhouse conference. Tim Tebow will win the Heisman Trophy in 2007.
