U2 – The Greatest Rock Band In The World? Since When?

With the news that U2 put in a surprise appearance at a charity gig as a support act for Biffy Clyro a few days ago comes, I'm afraid, a fresh wave of annoyance at Bono and co. Maybe I'm just jealous, but I can't stand to see the fuss that people make about U2's frankly mediocre pop style. Since when did people earn the right to start touting U2 as “The Greatest Rock Band In The World”, as if they hold some official title which has eluded all other bands before them? Yes, they've earned themselves a place in rock history with their past albums, but they're still not THAT good. And speaking of their past albums, isn't the Joshua Tree about to be re-released? Where did I hear that, I wonder? Oh yes – tagged onto the end of every news item I've seen so far about U2's surprise charity appearance. Funny, that. If U2 want to keep up the charity act, they could find better ways that don't involve playing on their fame. Or Bob Geldof. I find it hard to follow the charitable example of a man who moved his entire music publishing company to the Netherlands to avoid paying tax on his earnings, or who went to court after 19 years over a hat and a pair of trousers. Bono and U2 know what they're doing alright, but they aren't THAT good, and they certainly aren't out to save the world.

Thats the thing with people like you have too much time on your hands. Get A Life! We dont care to hear your hate campaign.. Im sure you really get off on the thought of hating any musician who wants to help third world countries out of poverty. The fact is the is, I rthink you know that U2 are one of youre biggest threats to youre fascist hate monger ideals, it just pisses you off have that you know youll be seeing seeing less; starving, bone thin children with diseases thanks to U2. And their music is best and youcant get better many people that hate there music havent heard 80% of their music, but they hate em anyway despite.
