Get Rid of Acne.
As discussed earlier, acne is a common inflamatory condition of the skin usually observed during adolecense. It is characterized by black heads, pimple outbreaks, cysts, infected abscesses, and sometimes scarring. These acne lesions usually appear on the face, chest, back, shoulders and neck. How can you get rid of acne? Well, there are some treatments you can follow. Some of them require a prescription while others are found over the counter.
Follow these Guidelines:
1-Do NOT Pick!!!!!!!!!!!
2-Wash with gentle soaps or nonsoap cleansers such as Cetaphil.
3-Decrease moisturization frequency.
4-Benzoyl Peroxide in low concentration kills bacteria of acne better than any topical or oral antibiotic. Kills P. acnes by producing oxygen.
5-Salicylic Acid - Works as an anti-inflammatory agent. It is an excelent choice for mild acne. It is the active ingredient in many over the counter drying agents.
6-Retin-A and Differin - Help to correct the abnormal accumulation of keratin in hair follicles. Decrease the amount of follicular plugging, thus getting at one of the causes of acne. These topical agents require a prescription.
7-Isotretinoin - Known as Accutane, is the most effective treatment for severe acne. It helps to diminish sebum production, normalize the growth pattern in follicle, and also may work to diminish the activity of P. acnes. Very important to know that Accutane has many side effects including and not limited to birth defects, hair loss, changes in night vision, headaches, dry eyes, and more. This require prescription.
8-Oral Antibiotics - Seem to strike at P. acnes, the bacterial instigator of the problem. These require prescription.
-Tetracycline
-Minocycline
9-Do NOT Pick!!!!!!!!!!
