I have come across a few excellent MDs in Marin and thought I would share my findings. Great internists: Dr. David Ogden, Dr. Robert Belknap, Dr. Hillel Abel, Dr. Elizabeth Etemad, Dr. Elizabeth Seaman, and Dr. Katharine Margolin.

Doctors have had their fees cut by a minimum of 35% in the last 15 yrs as prices for everything go up. Insurance companies often don't pay Dr.s for 60+ days . Many find themselves in a position of either having to limit the type of care they want to give, or charge for their services. It is a sad but true and untenible position for them and more often than not a difficult decision to make. The bottom line is that we live in a Capitalist society, right or wrong....as long as we do, people/Physicians will need to charge what is necessary for them to provide the level of service that we receive. It is a hard pill to swallow, so until we all agree that socialized medicene is the way to go, I'm afraid we will be seeing more and more Dr.s being forced into this position by the insurance companies.

My primary doc is in the process of jettisoning his poor and/or Medicare patients by means of a scheme called Concierge Care. For a flat fee of $1800 he will supply a physical exam. answer your calls promptly, speak personally with the specialists he recommends and give longer appointments when necessary. I'm apalled these services require a special fee, Non subscribers will be pushed to the end of the line. He is cutting his patient list from 2000 to 600 in the most cruel, cynical manner imaginable. Beware.
