Well, it's 16 days until Christmas and I'm only just starting to think about Christmas shopping now. While I absolutely love Christmas shopping, though, I HATE gift-wrapping with a passion. I haven't worked out whether I hate it because I'm no good at it, or I'm no good at it because I hate it. Either way, I've only ever tried to wrap my own gifts once - and was left stranded in the early hours of Christmas morning devoid of wrapping paper and patience. A young relative of mine had earlier offered to 'help' me, and I was left thinking I should have accepted her offer because she'd probably have done a better job than me! Thank god for free gift-wrapping, I say. Even though I feel kinda sorry for the poor mall employee on the other side of the desk, I can't help but think it's one of the best things shopping malls ever introduced. I don't mind queueing up for ages if it means not having to juggle sticky tape in one hand and a stiff drink in the other. As a parent, I also love free gift-wrapping because firstly, you can avoid the predicament of having to find somewhere to hide the toys where the kids won't see them until you get a chance to wrap them. I don't have room in the top of my cupboards, and my son is at the age where he's into EVERYTHING. The last thing I need or want is for him to get into his Christmas presents a week early! Secondly, using free gift-wrapping means you can hand over all those odd-shaped gifts for someone else to worry about - at least they're getting paid to do it! Have a great Christmas.
