So I'm not a shining, 4.7654321 GPA, all-star like everyone else but it's hard to get into graduate school! Now I'm not looking to get into the Ivy League scene (in fact, I don't like it); I just want to get into a good, So. Cal. university (UCLA and USC are out of the question since they now admit only grad. students working on their Ph.Ds).
Taking the dreaded GRE (Graduate Records Examination) also sucks. It's like the SAT for grad. school. I do well on the writing portion but the verbal part gets me because they expect you to have the vocabulary of a freakin' Oxford literature professor. Since my major is in history, I don't need to worry about the math part...I suck at math anyway...LOL. WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET A FREAKIN' M.A. THESE DAYS! SHEESH! I'm not stupid but I'm not the 4.0 superstar like all the other candidates.

To get into grad school, you have to do the same thing you will do once in...and that is work your butt off. But don't forget that the GRE is just one component--experience and interviews are also important.

Another way to get in is to have premarital sex with someone on the admissions committee.

That sounds horrible. SAT's were bad enough, I don't know why anyone would want to go through that again. What do you need an MA for?

Yeah GREs suck. But you don't have to have a 4.0 to get into a good program. I got into grad school at Stanford with a GPA of 3.3-ish...
