Freezing Your Credit Files    Back to the homepage
Views: 425 Report
Now, this is some interesting news. You can freeze your credit files by sending a written request with proof of identification to the three major credit bureaus. This freeze protects you from identity theft and fraudulent activity on your accounts. And, its only $10. If you have been a victim of identity theft this is a fabulous thing for you to do. Keep in mind, that you will also have a hard time when you want to establish credit again, as you will have to unfreeze your credit files. This usually takes a few days, but once its done, you are all set again. The only drawback is that once you freeze your credit files it will be just as hard for you to get credit as it is for the credit thieves. If you have no intention of needing credit any time in the near future, you may want to consider this option for your protection.
