My audi came off warranty in november and as you would expect a month later a little yellow warning light came on. So after months of ignoring it I finally took it to royal motors audi and paid $150 to find out what the problem was. It tuned out that my accelaration sensor was broken and they quoted me $800 for the a new part and $400 for labor. You've got to be kidding me. So I did a little googling to find another audi service center and after talking to several places I decided to take it to Advanced Audi down off michigan Street.
Here's where the "rocks" post starts: They were awesome. They charged me $156 for a brand new audi part and 150 for labor, saving me $900. That's huge. Randy the owner was a good guy and they pick you up and drop you off at work so you don't have to take a taxi after dropping your car off. One side note: when you drive up to this place it looks a bit shady (not the best neighborhood) but it was fine. And now two months later my car is still doing well.

YES! They rock, YET AGAIN! HALF the PRICE for some NON-WARRANTY labor and parts from my dealer.

Always check out your local non-franchised auto-repair shop. Often these will be staffed by ex main dealer trained staff who know what they are doing. The bigger service shops will usually have the diagnostic equipment that the main dealers use. Once your vehicle is older than three years and by then out of the warranty period you can save a small fortune by using non-franchised service shops.
