I don't mean to do it, but it happens to me all the time. Why can't people ever assume that your comments are not trying to be rude or hurtful, just poorly worded. FOr example I was a bar the other night and I was talking to this pretty black girl. She then told me she cheers for the niners and I said something along the lines of "so you already know that you are pretty then, you are very exotic lookikng whats your background. She said my mom is white and my dad id black....I then replied, wow I would not have guessed your mom was white.....she then got really offended and I think was picturing me in my white hood. I tried to back pedal a bit and said, that her eyed looked polanesiian and thats why i was surprised....it went nowhwere. Shne then left to sit somwhere else. As my wife and i were leaving i wanted to smooth it over a bit so I waleked up to her like I did not knw her and said "Say, do you have a beautiful white mother?" She really did not think this was funny. And suffice to say the six guys who had not context of my comment trying to get in her pants REALLY didnt think it was funny.

I was there - it was hilarious. BUt Guinness did not mention that he was three sheets to the wind! I felt for her~!
