These people think they are SPECIAL: (1) Drivers who ignore, a clearly posted, "no left turn" sign for cars exiting a parking lot onto a busy street and thus, keep cars behind them waiting. (2) Drivers who stop in the middle of the street to let a passenger out of their car, even though there is a loading area at the curb and thus cause a traffic jam. How do you curb your road rage when this happens?

no need to curb the road rage - let it out. You're helping the greater good by being vocal, honking the horn, using hand gestures and most importantly doing the open door fake like you're going to attack the other driver.

There are a multitude of others as well!!!! For some reason, California has the corner on nutso drivers! I am afraid now to respond as I used to so I waggle my open hand on my nose OR stick my tongue out at them. The shock on their faces helps a lot! My sympathy to you.

I want to know when using your turn signals became obsolete

You control road rage by taking a deep breath, keeping you mouth shut and just letting it go. That is unless you're prepared physically and mentally to get out of your car and fight, possibly to the point where you might end up seriously hurt and/or in jail, or possibly to the death. Remember, no one EVER wins a fight. Let me share 3 anecdotes with you. Some time ago one of my employees, a young woman, who was on her way home from work with her husband and two children honked the horn at a car that stopped short in front of hers. The driver and passenger burst out of their car right in the middle of a busy intersection, walked up to their car, pointed guns at them and began shouting obscenities threatening to kill them and their kids. Eventually the two got back in their car and drove off. During the Christmas season a couple of years ago, a lady I know was foolish enough to yell at and get out of her car to confront another woman who had stolen her parking space at a shopping mall in an affluent area. The second woman got out of her car brandishing a huge knife and lunged at the first woman sreaming in a murderous rage threatening to kill her. The first gal got back into her car and locked the doors with considerable speed. Finally, many years ago ("road rage" is a relatively new term but not a new concept) a close friend who was a paramedic told me this one as he was there. A fellow had just finished shoveling snow out of a parking space next to which he was double parked. Another guy came along, zipped into the first guy's space and to make matters worse, flipped the first guy the bird and shouted a few choice words. The first guy then hit him across the face with his iron shovel, killing him instantly. There are too many gun toting knife wielding maniacs out there who think nothing of hurting and/or killing others to risk yelling, getting out of your car, etc. It doesn't matter how big, tough, strong or "right" you are if you're maimed or dead.
