Today on their website, Time has a story about the last warning on global warming and they show a picture os a polar bear and cubs floating on an ice island. Why is it that somehow or other the global warming people assume that the world and its inhabitants must remain just exactly as they have been all the time, forever, or else we're in trouble? Why do they appeal to emotional things, like saving the poor, poor polar bears, instead of working on the facts? The climate changes, always has, and always will, and when it changes, the environment changes, and some people and animals and plants have to move (from where it becomes unproductive, for example) to somewhere else; cities have to move; the fixed locations of current existence have to change. It's happened before, and it will happen again. So why all this hysteria over a fact of life? It's like getting all worked up over the fact that people die (all living things die) and wanting the government to "do something about it," as if the government has control over life and biology. And any rate, while polar bears are interesting from a distance, I think we have far more pressing problems to worry about with climate change than whether or not polar bears will go extinct. Like all successful life, they'll probably adapt and learn new tricks.

Following that logic, lets not cry for orphans, war wounded, cancer victims, the obese, AIDS sufferers, earthquake/tsunami/hurricane/terrorist attack victims, etc. Its not for us or the Government to worry about - they will either learn new tricks, and they will all certainly die - someday. And concerning the pants and animals on which we rely for sustenance I know its such a bummer that there is the potential that 50% of Earths species may become extinct due to manmade global warming the polar bears being the first. But please dont bother showing me the pictures its so inconvenient.
