Hey its nice to know that people are speaking up about Dr. Dorsher at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonvile. I had a bad experience with him. I saw Dr. Dorsher for an appointment and told him that my knee had been hurting me for a long time. He pretty much just ignored me (yeah, I could see him reading other patient records in front of me, too!) That's really bad "bedside manner." He sent me to physical therapy + said I needed towork on strengthening the muscles. But my knee wasn't getting better so I decided to go to a different MD outside of Mayo Clinic. Ends up that I needed surgery on the knee! I knew something was wrong. Maybe Dr. Dorsher should spend more time looking at his patients instead of looking at other patient files on the computer, while a different pt. is in the room with him, and can read what he reads. I think there's something called HIPPA... has something do to with patient privacy. Dr. Dorsher should be banned from practice.

You are a moron. Peter Dorsher is one of the most brilliant physicians that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing...and I have known a lot and most of them are cocky, stubborn overrated pigs...If you can't understand a physician's reasons for trying to treat you without medication or surgery, you deserve the pain, idiot.

Anonymous23: Do your research....first of all I have known Dr. Dorsher for many years...he is highly accopmplished and highly regarded. If you think he is grossly overweight, you need to see an opthamologist!!! Clearly you have severe vision problems!!! Also his collegues voted him one of America's Top Physicians....He is highly regarded. Get your head checked and do your research. You clearly saw the wrong specialist. He is too good for you!

I am sorry to hear your experience was unpleasant. I know what it is like to expect help from a doctor and end up disappointed.
To tell you the truth, your review scared me to death. I have been sick for a very long time and finally decided to travel to Mayo because of their reputation. I was fairly discouraged when I read your review.
The doctor I met was nothing like what you have described. Granted...I have only seen him once, but he was very charismatic, extremely attentive, and seemed eager to find out what is wrong with me. I will have to let you know how it turns out...many doctors I have seen start out helpful and then give up on me when the first few tests come back normal.
Oh, and he was not even close to being overweight. Are you 100% positive it was Dr. Dorsher? I ask because many patients do standby appointments at Mayo...you don't necessarily see the physician you are scheduled with.

Wow, you have not described the incredible Dr. Dorsher I am now seeing at Mayo clinic Jacksonville. He has given me the first light of hope I have had in 9 years. I have never had a more attentive doctor--he spent 90 minutes with me on our first appt. He has brought 7 other specialists in to solve my problems with chronic pain. I was afraid when I read your post, and I am hoping by posting my experience here others will completely disregard what you have said.

Dr. Dorsher was completely attentive and diagnosed my problem imme-diately. It was great to know there was a definite reason for my pain. He also took time for some small talk about the Jaguars -- just one or two statements, but I was put at ease.

a patient from mayo who sees Dr Dorcher told me how great he is&has helped her so much to get out of severe pain. I came2mayo4other problem but also hav mobility limitations&constant pain from injury.I was so encouraged by what this patient said Dr Dorcher did4her that I requested a referral2Dr Dorcher4 my pain issues while here. But Now I see these posts saying how awful Dr Dorcher is&how he didnt care4these patients right&treated them so poorly&this has totally concerned me about seeing him as Ive ben thru the bad dr route&ended up worse than my condition b4seeing them. But I was assured by this Mayo patient that my experience with Dr Dorcher would be great&that hes excellent, efficient, kind&spends time&concern trying2get2 the route of his patients pain.I felt so hopeful that Im seeing Dr Dorcher& now reading these reveiws Im confused&scared. I hope who wrote this negative stuff about the drs did so with due cause&concern re what they said&that they didnt just write this2be mean&over exagerate.I read the other reviews& there totally opposite say dr dorcher is great.Im just looking for an alternative way2deal with the pain from injury besides meds&get more mobile.I dont like pain meds but sometimes it gets so bad I hav2 use them.I heard Dr Dorcher can help with other alternatives than medicine. That is why I was so looking forward2 going2this dr4more alternative treatments verses meds&it made my day when I was told of him.Im hoping those who put him down so badly saying hes a bad dr R totally wrong&that my experience is a good 1. Will let you know. Kat

I was being seen by Peter Dorsher, who, neglected to return calls regarding diagnostics of x-rays repeated calls were made with no response. He set me up for an injection for pain that when I arrived and was ready for the shot, was told that since I was on Plavix I could not get the shot. Dorsher had a complete list of all my meds. I then called the head of the department to file a complaint and was totally ignored by the department head and have been now for over three weeks.
I think that Dorsher's vacation time was far more important than safely helping relieve my pain. I have no confidence in his ability to treat me.

Dr. Peter Dorsher is a brilliant, humble, kind and well published Physiatrist and Medical Acupuncturist. In regard to the negative review posted anonymously 4/17/08; Dr. Dorsher is a multitasking genius. When you are the patient in the room, he is concerned about you and when he is looking and typing on his computer - he is either reading previous tests and Doctors notes you may have had, putting it all together and decifering the real problem in the least invasive way. I don't believe he is a surgeon, but if he were, wouldn't surgery(and very possibly an unsuccessful surgery) be the last resort you would want to take? As far as the overweight comment, I strongly think you are mistaking him for another Dr. in that same department.

Anonymous23: mri reports showed that my knee had torn ligaments. dorsher failed to listen to my concerns and order an mri. well, since u brought it up, to use your words, dorsher is a cocky, stubborn, overrated pig. dorsher is grossly overweight w/ unsanitary body odor. also, check public records and you'll find a long list of documented patient privacy violations.
