There are many reasons credit unions rock, and there are many reasons to belong to a credit union today. It's not as tough as you think to become a member either. If you have family members (even extended family) who belong to a credit union, you can join. Check online for a list of local credit unions near you. Sometimes just being an employee at certain companies allows you the benefit of a credit union. And sometimes depending on your ethnic background, location or religion you can become a member of certain credit unions. Credit unions rock for many reasons. The interest rates for credit cards at credit unions run on average at 13.50%. Some even go as low as 9.9%. Home equity loans are as low as 5.95%, auto loans average 7.5% and you can gain as much as 5.43% on a six month CD. So, get on the ball and check out the credit unions near you that rock. It is certainly worth your effort.
