Constitutional Amendment Against Gay Marriage in Texas    Back to the homepage
Views: 788 Report
Well, Texas has once again proved to, unfortunately, be populated with conservative, self righteous fundamentalists. On election day they managed to vote an amendment to the Texas constitution banning gay marriage. In Texas, marriage has to be between a man and a woman. Well congratulations, this is the height of hypocricy. The Dallas-Fort Worth area has one of the highest divorce rates in the nation. I have known countless traditional couples who live together instead of getting married. Not to mention all of the Texas population who smoke pot, drive drunk and cheat on their taxes. But let a gay couple want to marry and "The Bible Says". Well aren't you all so pious all the sudden. I am a heterosexual woman who does not think the Texas constitution should include discrimation. Future generations will look back on this with shame. The Bible also says love your neighbor, judge not or you will be judged and do not have pre-maritial sex or extra-maritial sex. If you are a person who does not want to marry a person on the same gender - then don't. Why be unkind and judgmental of same sex couples who want a committed life partner - officially. He who is without sin cast the first stone.

missy (8/21): Part 1..Well, yes the bible does clearly say to judge not. That one scripture is the most misused one in the bible. It is the scapegoat to cover every sinful act that God forbids. God loves the world. He gave His Son to die so we could be saved. This is what the bible says about homosexuality and this is new testament scripture;Romans 1:24-29 Therefore God also gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26 For this reason, God gave them up to vile passions. For their women changed the natural function into that which is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural function of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another, men doing what is inappropriate with men, and receiving in themselves the due penalty of their error. 28 Even as they refused to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil habits, secret slanderers... missy (8/21): Part 2..Some who call themselves Christians do have a hateful damning spirit, but there are some of us who truly love God and want to see no one end up in hell. Sin is sin. Homosexuality is no worse than another sin, but when a nation begins to make laws to accomodate these sins, we are to speak out against it. Instead of encouraging men and women to continue down the wrong path in life, we are to reach out and give them the good news that Jesus Christ can set them free. The scripture where the 'judge not' verse comes in was talking about those who judge others for the same thing they are doing themselves. Jesus was talking about the hypocrites in that crowd. The laws of that day required both man and woman caught in adultery to be stoned. Where was the man? Also, no punishment could be carried out without at least two eyewittness, but when Jesus asked them who condemned the woman, no a soul came forward. They were breaking their own laws by the way they were carrying out that judgement. The bible tells us to judge ALL things with righteous judgement by the word of God. We have to make judgements in hundreds of areas everyday. If we want to get rid of judgement, then let us tear down prisons and courthouses. What kind of world would we live in then? Anything and everything could and would take place. How are we to know good from evil if we don't judge between the two? It seems liberals love democracy until the majority votes on something they don't like. That is when democracy becomes 'fundamental self-righteous idiots'. This is still a free land and Christians have the same rights as anyone else. Funny how so many will support perversion but want to silence those who don't agree, and Christians are called hypocrites?? (report)

Anonymous (11/10): I agree with you...and I'm a native Texan who is very embarrassed to be so...I've always been proud of my Texan heritage, but no longer. (report)

Jaded (8/24): The state of Texas has no more business saying who can marry whom than they do controlling our reproductive freedom. There is supposed to be a division of church and state in this country. Since the religious conservatives have taken over this country that no longer seems to be the case. We have lost a very important part of our freedom in this. (report)
