Jimmy Johnson winning the NASCAR Nextel cup this season has shown Cheaters Do Prosper, at least in NASCAR. I now have to explain to my kids that cheating is wrong, but you can still win the big prize. how can that be? They are going to ask. Because it's all about the money will be my response. Johnson's crew Chief Chad Knause if the most penalized Crew Chief in the history of NASCAR, he is a perennial rule breaker but there is no 3 strikes and you're out rule in this sport and there should be. Cheaters Do Prosper in NASCAR. If NASCAR were to have imposed a proper penalty on Johnson and his team for cheating it would have taken away their chance of winning the season points championship. That would have meant Lowes, the car sponsor, track sponser, a cash cow for NASCAR, would have lost out and that cost was too much for NASCAR to take. So a slap on the wrist, some media attention, and back to winning races was the result. The message to my kids, it's OK to cheat and even to get caught as long as your sponsor has the big bucks. Cheaters Do Prosper kids, that is the lesson from NASCAR this season.
