Bridesmaid's Dresses...    Back to the homepage
Views: 1571 Report
No matter how hard the bride tries to pick out a universally flattering, not too expensive dress, the result is always the same. While I would never complain to the bride or anyone involved in the wedding, it's always the same issues. You are spending $300 on the dress, plus another $75 to have it altered so it almost fits you, plus the shoes, and next thing you know, you have a $500 outfit that makes you look awful that you will never wear again, no matter what it looks like. I don't blame the bride, I blame the lack of options. But if anyone needs a strapless sheath, I have about 20 of them.... a couple full length ones, too.

Anonymous (8/18): Wait until you are the bride convincing everyone they have to wear a certain dress and look a certain way. (report)
cstraw (8/30): actually, my bridesmaid dresses made everyone look amazing, regardless of body type. One of my girls also had the skirt cut and wears it as a cocktail skirt with heels and it looks great (very flattering). (report)
Jimbo (5/14): You women are crazy. Thank God I found and married the only sane one on the planet. We were married before a justice of the peace with one other couple there, our best friends. And that was my wife's idea, not mine! (report)

mooka (9/9): I had my share of closet stuffers; and my bridesmaids covered the spectrum of body shapes and sizes. We decided to let everyone pick a pattern that they knew complimented their particular figure, from the standard books o' patterns; and then bought the material in the City where it was much cheaper. It was a fall wedding and we limited the selection to any jewel color in a quality weight velvet. They looked wonderful to our guests, who complimented them throughout the night; and the photographer used our prints as examples because the colors were so warm. The band's singer, and they were a pretty cool CBGB band, commented a few times that they were the nicest she had seen - she was also getting married soon and thought it would be a good idea for her wedding. They have each worn their dresses for winter parties and the holidays, but they never looked better than coming down the candlelit aisle of our church. (report)
Anonymous (5/1): I dont necessarily agree that all bridesmaids outfits are hideous, if you friend has taste you will look nice. I do agree that it usually ends up being expensive (as you stated). Keep in mind, if its a classy wedding, you will get coerced into spending another 200 on a bridal shower because the decorations have to be "perfect and tasteful," and you still have to buy a shower and wedding gift. Too much money...mine wasnt nearly so expensive (my bridal dress was only $100) and everyone still remarks that they had the most fun at our wedding. (report)
