I agree with you, FlemFlanders! It's a really ugly view of a world that only had a cat and an inept wizard to mar its joy. As silly as they were, my son, when he was little got a kick out of them. No one could get a kick out of how they have been used. It's kind of like evicerating My Little Pony.
