Looking for the perfect beach getaway in one of the most beautiful spots? Lizard Island is your answer. My wife and I spent four days there while on our honeymoon in Australia and it was the best resort I have ever been to. It is on a private island about an hour flight from Cairns - you take a chartered flight over the Great Barrier Reef and then out of the blue, literally, appears Lizard Island. When you land a small trolley picks you up and whisks you the quarter mile to the resort, the only development on the island. Everything is first class and included - and its not all inclusive like most resorts, this is all inclusive done in five star style. The rooms are amazing, large, and open up right onto the beach. The first day we took a motorized dinghy and explored to find our own private beach - the resort packed us a fresh seafood launch with champage and made for an amazing day. The second day we lounged on the beach and had a private, candlelit dinner on the beack for dinner. And then on the last day we took the resport's dive boat out to a great reef dive spot. It was an amazing place and while expensive, is on a whole other level than anywhere else I have been. I highly recommend it.
