I went to go see a dermatologist yesterday and instead of seeing the doctor who my friend referred me to, I saw the other doctor in the same office (2001 Union Street) because he was available much sooner (a month sooner). He was the biggest jerk for a doctor I've ever met. Never a hello, never a goodbye, and no tact. I don't care if he did a good job or not (still waiting to see how everything heals) but service is a big part of everyone's job. He was rude to his assistant in front of me and I damn near just jumped out of the chair and walked out, probably should have. Don't see Dr. Panagotacos. I look forward to him googling his name and finding this post.

Hey face it, America is the land where people worship money. The good doctor obviously wanted more money so he spends as little time as he can so that he can see more patient. Grow up man, we live in the land where only money counts...humans come last...don't expect because you won't get....time for a reality trip! As for Googling his name....come on get real .....does he care????...does anyone care...??? Take your acne to someone else who charges more and gives you the service you expect.....cheapskate!!

I'm a patient of Dr. Panagotacos's, too, as he's done hair transplants for me. Previously, I also had another hair transplant done by another doctor who was vastly inferior in comparison. Frankly, I'm not surprised to hear this person's post. While it's true that at times Dr. P. has a does not have the warmest of "bedside manners", he is absolutely brilliant at what he does. And to be honest, I want a doctor who is absolutely confident & positive in what he does, as Dr. P. is. I've also seen Dr. P. get frustrated with his staff, but it's because he's a perfectionist-isn't that a good thing in a doctor? I don't know how he is as a dermatologist, but he's a genius at hair transplants. If you're going to get a hair transplant in the Bay Area, Dr. P. is either the best or as great as anyone else out there. I'd also like to point out that though Dr. P. isn't overly warm & fuzzy with his patients, he has always professionally answered every single question I've asked him in multiple visits (and emails!) over the last 3 years. Plus, once you get by his occassionally Alpha-doctor manner, he's actually quite interesting and funny. For something as important as hair transplant surgery I happily choose Dr. P's brilliance over a warm & fuzzy doctor who is only good. If I need warm & fuzzy I'll go pet a dog. But if you need the best hair transplant possible, look no further-Dr. P. is one of the best in the the world.

If I'm getting treatment for something other than my ego, then I'd rather have an MD with a god-complex instead of a soft, hold your hand and cry with you mediocre surgeon. If your ego needs that kind of stroking, you need psych, not derm. How ridiculous of you to comment that you "don't care if he did a good job or not..." If you are seeing a derm guy for a skin condition, getting that treated properly should be the MOST important factor, not his personality. You are at a doctors office to get your problem fixed, not buying a party dress at Nordstrom. If he did hack up your case, then by all means tear into him here. If he did a good job then chill out.

There is a shortage (or at least a maldistribution) of medical dermatologists in this country. It is not uncommon for a dermatologist to see 60-100 patients per day compared to 20-40 patients per day normally seen by primary care providers. While it would be nice if all doctors were touchy-feely and talked to you extensively about your hopes, dreams and what you want to do when you grow up, this is really not always practical in dermatology. Of course, this physician should have been a bit a more pleasant, but really what do you expect?

I completely disagree. I have found Dr. Panagotacos to be a fantastic doctor. He know his business BETTER than any other doctor I visited. He is a real pro and you will be lucky to get him. I prefer his direct and to the point style.

BEWARE OF DR. BARRY H. DUBNER, dermatologist in Sunrise, Florida, BAD BAD DOCTOR. My young adult daughter went to see him for her long history of severe acne. She has seen him for the last several years and she told him she would like to try Accutane since all the other treatments did not work. He started yelling and went off on a crazy rant, insulted her, made her cry, then told her she needed to find a new doctor and could not see anyone in the group any more since she just wanted Accutane! She was stunned by his unethical behavior and that he would treat her this way. It should be noted that this is the first time I have not been with her on her appointment, she was by herself and she is only 22. He was totally unprofessional, unethical and negligent. I am so upset that my daughter was mistreated like this by someone who calls himself a doctor.

almost every big, busy dermatologist I've been to have spent less than 5 minutes with me. Acne has always plagued my face and I wish they would spend some more time discussing options with me (I've tried everything under the sun and been on Accutane twice!) I feel ya!

I encourage you to post your comments on www.ratemds.com... a very good site for patients to rate their physicians and for new patients to get opinions on new doctors.

Dear Anonymous: Did you receive this doctor's services for free? If not, then you have every reason to complain. The medical schools seem to be accepting more and more applicants who have some very negative personality traits. Many of the younger physicians (I'm 66) I have found to be rude, condenscending, grossly egotistical, and poorly equipt to "Do No Harm." -- Now, what can we do about that? Any ideas?

I ABSOLUTELY agree with this post. I too saw Dr. Panagotacos. He was and is the biggest jerk I have ever encountered. He was obnoxious and almost made me cry except that my pride took over and I didn't want him to think he got the best of me. My husband was with me and he also agrees.

I had to see a assistant doctor, which told me every ache and pain I had was because i was gettin old. I was 45, at the time, with a full time job, full time student (4.0 avg.), team mom (baseball) and full time care giver to my 9 yr old grandson.Unfortunatlly my pain was caused by a pick-up truck totaling my car at 60mph from behind ( not my age). My attorney contributes this behavior to the fact that Doctors no longer want to get involed in lawsuits. What kind of crap is that? I now live everyday in pain because, I am not only out of school, sports, and work for the last 10 mos. The mans insurance wants to give me $2000. for all my months of pain because my so-called Doctor says I"m OLD!

I too had a bad experience with a doctor in Boise, Idaho named Dr. John Crites,at Primary Health, I swear, in my opinion he was dipping into the medicine cabinet just a little too much!!!!! If i had acted like he did, at my job, i'd have been fired on the spot, but they get away with it time and time again!!!

speaking of bad doctors, i came across this recently, from DrHallOfShame.com ... "Peter Dorsher , MD,
Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville. Scores of patients have lodged formal complaints
against Dr. Dorsher for privacy violations. 'He [Dr. Dorsher] spaces out when you're in the office with him,' states a patient. 'He's very forgetful and when I speak to him, he doesn't make eye contact or pay attention. He goofs around on the computer, reading other patient records in front of me, and I can see
everything.' The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has launched an investigation into Dr. Dorsher's extensive privacy violations."

Unless you live in Indiana you sound like your doctor and my old doctor got there deplomia at the same place. Dr, Fred Ridge of Linton indiana has a office staff that matches the doctors practice. After I wrote them a letter firing them for a office nurse called my wife and said I cant see the doctor the nurse practitioner was good enough they wrote me back saying they turned my account over to a collection agency and added $386.29 for collection cost. You think your doctor stinks?

Dr. Grant Nakajima yelled at me when I asked to not have my eyes dialated. I went in for a contact fitting, then he gave me a perscription that would have caused severe migraines and was completely wrong for my eyes. Worst eye doctor in 50 years.

I just went to Dr. Dubner a month ago! He did a "full body" exam looking at my brests and down my underwear only. Shouldn't full body be all over? Not just those parts. So one mole comes back irregular which is on my ARM. He made an appt a week later to get the rest of the mole. He AGAIN had the nurse tell me to remove my clothes. I said no that we just did this. He didn't know but my husband was in there. He came in saying..."oh right, we did do that. My mistake" and didn't do it. The appt had to be rescheduled to remove the rest of the mole because it wasn't healed enough from the biopsy. I went yesterday alone. He told me to remove my clothes AGIN. Three times in one month??? I said "is this really necessary" he said it was. I should have been smart and walked out! Anyway he did another full body looking only again at my breasts and down my panties. You can't see if there is anything down there anyhow. I have gone through puberty and do have you know..hair. So if he can't see moles there anyway, why does he need to look? And isn't full body the entire body and not just those two parts??? Someone help me and tell me who I can contact. I feel violated! I am such an idiot for not just getting up and walking out!I think he is a pervert that calls himself a doctor.

I have been to the worst psycharist in the world. If you live in Macon Ga do not go to see Ali Ahmadi at Macon Psychiatry. I saw him 3 times for a sleep disorder which is associated with Fibromyalgia, depression, anxiety, and chronic fatigue. In 1 year I have had to stop work, go to 4 other doctors, deal with the deaths of one aunt and my Mother, then my husband left me. Dr.Ahmadi basically called me a fraud trying to get SSI disability (I am receiving benefits from an insurance company that I paid premiums to for years). He told me to go get a job that my mother was dead to get on with my life, go to the courthouse a file for a divorce, that he could send me to Emory hospital for shock therapy and that he had patients come in his office everyday saying they talked to Abe Lincoln, saw Jesus Christ or a voice told them to harm someone. I had never claimed any of those things and was only there to get help with my sleep disorder, which by the way he had prescribed a drug for at the first visit. Then when my therapist called him to ask about the incident he told her he didn't know I had a sleep disorder. I am writing every place I can find to complain about this ???? psycharist. He didn't even know or care if I was sucicidal. Please do not go to him, he claims to be a bipolar expert. I feel sorry for anyone who is bipolar and goes to him. And by the way he gave me a prescription for anxiety as I left his office.
NICE!
