Look at the recent top 40 albums in the charts and you'll get a good idea of why the music business is in such sad condition today. Take number 1 among top 40 albums recently: It's from the Eagles, and they chose to sell it exclusively through Wal-Mart! As for the 2 spot among top 40 albums, it belongs to "Blackout" from Britney Spears, a star who's badly waning and seems she couldn't care less anymore about entertaining us. Right after her is Carrie Underwood, one of the American Idols. Enough said. And speaking of manufactured, the list of top 40 albums also includes the soundtracks of TV shows "High School Musical 2" and "Hannah Montana 2." Add such questionable stuff as a new album from a group called Puscifer, with a title featuring a sexual anatomical word. You get the idea: There's no focus to America's musical tastes, and a lot of it gravitates towards crap. That's a sorry state for the top 40 albums chart. Even sorrier when you see that "Chrome Dreams II," the great new album from Neil Young, lingers down at the bottom in the number 40 spot.

Absolutly! It's revolting, I'm 20 and completly horrified by what people my age and younger call music, sure some of it is fun to dance to but what is my generation going to listen to at 50yrs of age huh?

Neil Young, from what I can tell, never put out great albums; he has a handful of good songs, but even a "hits" collection by him is kinda weak. All he knows how to do is make loud obnoxious garbage. I think the problem with today's "pop" music is people are going by what's "cool" and not what's in their hearts. Sadly, it's just as bad with music critics, it seems...bands like Armor For Sleep, Hawthorne Heights & Trespassers William hardly ever get noticed by anybody.
